JOWAI:
A protest rally was organised by the Dorbar Shnong of Khanduli, on April 24, to protest against the setting up of a tax gate by the Karbi-Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) in the village.
The march beagn from Khanduli football ground and saw the attendance of residents from neighrbouring villages, NGOs which include the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Federation of Khasi Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP), Jaiñtia Students’ Union (JSU), Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM), among others.
Speaking at the gathering, HANM president demanded the removal of tax gate, a permanent solution to all border disputes with Assam, revocation of Assam Reorganisation Act 1951 and a separate cadre for Meghalaya.
