Khanduli village belongs to Assam: Karbi Anglong DC

West Karbi Anglong district Deputy Commissioner Krishna Baruah has claimed that Khanduli village belongs to Assam on the basis of documents present with the Karbi Anglong Autonomous District Council (KAAC).

She was speaking to media persons after a meeting with West Jaintia Hills deputy commissioner here on April 19.

The meeting was held after the forest department of the KAAC erected a signboard to set up a tax collection post at Khanduli village which was later uprooted by hundreds of angry residents from the village on April 15.

West Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police Chemphang Syri, along with his counterpart from Hamren, Karbi Anglong was present at the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills, B S Sohliya informed that the meeting only discussed the law and order situation in the border area, adding, “On the border dispute issue, both Assam and Meghalaya have already set up a regional border committee which will look into the matters.”
