The Rev. Lytton Roy Memorial English School in Umsawnongbri, Umling (Ri Bhoi) celebrated its tenth anniversary on May 6.
President of the managing committee of the school, Rev. RR Pamshong, spoke a little about the history of the school, saying, “The school was first established in the year 2012 in memory of Rev. Lytton Roy Makdoh, the great grandfather of the Kur Pamshong, who served his life as a teacher and a preacher in Umsawnongbri and neighbouring villages.”
The event was attended by Vincent Nianglang, the District Mission Coordinator (SSA), Ri-Bhoi, who was also the chief guest, and by Raju Rizal, Block Mission Coordinator (SSA) Umling, as a guest of honour. Others present there were BD Mawphniang, headman of Umsawnongbri, BS Syiem, Syiem Raid Nongbri, church leaders of Umsawnongbri Presbyterian Church, members of the governing body of the school, students and parents.
Most of the speakers wished the school well and hoped that it produces more talented students who will have the qualities to help others and follow in the footsteps of Rev. Lytton Roy Makdoh.
