NONGPOH:
In what can be termed as a major boost to the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) ahead of the 2023 assembly polls in Nongpoh, scores of leaders and supporters of Indian National Congress, United Democratic Front (UDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from the constituency switched over to the party, at the Pahamlapong field in Nongpoh, on April 12.
The new inductees include Nongpoh Block Congress Committee leader Plielad Tiewsoh along his supporters, UDP’s Iadalang Makdoh, Phis Narlong, and about 300 of their supporters.
Welcoming them into the party’s fold, deputy chief minister felicitated the new inductees in the presence of NPP’s Nongpoh candidate for 2023, Magdalene S Mawlong, Umsning MLA Jason Sawkmie Mawlong and Jirang MLA Sosthenes Sohtun, among others.
