NONGPOH:
The traditional Shad Pomblang (goat sacrifice) was organised by the Raid Marngar under the Mylliem Syiemship Ri Bhoi district, at Iew Mawlong, Nongpoh, on April 30.
Celebrated every year in the month of April, the festival encompasses several traditional rituals, including sacrificial ritual, in which a goat if sacrificed to please the Shillong Peak deity, U-Lei Shillong.
Following the sacrificial ritual, locals also performed a folk-dance jiving to the lively beats of traditional drums and ka tangmuri.
Syiem of Raid Marngar, Richard Syiem, minister of the Hima Mylliem along with Basan Nongkseh, Basan Nongumlong and the Niam Khasi faith attended the festival.
