AGARTALA:
Alleging that incidents of violence are rising unabated in the state, Tripura Pradesh Congress, on May 6, demanded resignation of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb for turning a blind eye to issue.
He also held Chief Minister Deb responsible for the soaring cases of crime in the state, who also happens to be home minister of the state.
“On February 26 I was attacked and on a few days after, the Congress Bhawan was attacked. On May 01 last, my driver and PSO came under attack. Whenever I was attacked, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb was out of state. And, I feel he should be held responsible if I get killed in such an attack”, he said.
Stating that the law and order situation in the state has deteriorated in last couple of days, former Congressman Sudip Roy Barman also slammed the police officials claiming that the director general of police and other top ranking officers too are oblivious of the matter.
“Many incidents took place in the last couple of days which prove that the law and order condition in the state has deteriorated. A minor girl was gang raped, two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders were killed at Kamalpur, an on-duty medical officer was thrashed by a mob and a banquet hall was ransacked at the heart of the city. Such incidents are happening regularly in the state and the police department is silent on them,” Sudip said, addressing the press at Congress Bhawan, on Friday.
He also informed that the Tripura Pradesh Congress will soon issue look-out notices for them. “The price of police incompetence is being paid by the common people of the state,” Barman added.
