UDP satisfied with two cabinet berths: Metbah Lyngdoh

United Democratic Party (UDP) president Metbah Lyngdoh said that there is nothing to be dissatisfied with even as the party secured two cabinet berths.

The UDP ministers who secured cabinet berths are Paul Lyngdoh and Kyrmen Shylla. It may be mentioned that UDP won 11 seats in the recently held elections.

As for the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attendance at the swearing-in, Metbah said, “It is an honour for the state.”

Commenting on the common minimum programme, he said that the party will discuss with the chief minister on this matter.

Responding to Voice of the People Party (VPP) president Ardent Basaiawmoit who called the recent political shift as political drama, the UDP president said, “I am sorry to say that in such a case, such a statement was made by a leader. We are not here for political drama.”

On the other hand, Congress Legislative Party leader Ronnie Lyngdoh said that the party will play a constructive role as an opposition.

As for him visiting Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mukul Sangma, he said, “Is there any harm in visiting a leader. I visited the CM also. What is there?”
