Guwahati:
A body of a 45-year-old woman was found hanging from a tree in Assam’s Kokrajhar district, on May 9.
Identified as Anjali Murmu, police suspect she was killed and hung on the suspicion of practising witchcraft.
Three individuals, who have been arrested in connection with the case are Sunil Mardi (18), Hopna Hemram (20) and Prabinson Kishko (30). The incident took place in Mohanpur village under the Gossaigaon police station’s jurisdiction.
According to police officials, the woman went missing from the village on May 7 and her husband informed the headman who in turn, filed a police complaint on the same day. Soon after, police and the villagers launched a search operation and the woman was found on the outskirts of the village.
