161st death anniversary of U Kiang Nangbah observed in West Jaiñtia Hills

The Sein Raij Jowai and the Kiang Nangbah Iasiat Khnam Memorial Society (KNIKMS) observed the day at two separate locations in the morning and afternoon.

The death anniversary of U Kiang Nangbah, a freedom fighter who valiantly opposed British rule, was commemorated in Jowai, West Jaiñtia Hills on December 30.

The Sein Raij Jowai and the Kiang Nangbah Iasiat Khnam Memorial Society (KNIKMS) observed the day at two separate locations in the morning and afternoon.

Member of Parliament (Raja Sabha), Wanweiroy Kharlukhi, graced the occasion at Mynkoi Pyrdi, Iongpiah Jowai, organized by the Sein Raij Jowai. Simultaneously, Sutnga-Saipung MLA Santa Mary Shylla attended the program at Kiang Nangbah Memorial Park, Madiah Kmai Blai, Syntu Ksiar, as the Chief Guest, in the presence of the Joint Secretary Governor Secretariat, Raj Bhawan Shillong, A Lakiang.

Various NGOs, attendees, and the chief guest paid floral tributes to U Kiang Nangbah at his monument in the park.

Speaking on the occasion, Shylla praised the society for observing the day. She emphasized that if U Kiang Nangbah had not been present during the era of British rule, the region would have achieved independence, much like other states in India. She also pledged to collaborate closely with the society for the comprehensive development of the area.
