Guwahati:
Two youths have been arrested on suspicion of being jihadis during a police operation in Assam’s Kaljhar, north of Barpeta Howli, on July 7.
The arrested youths have been identified as Mokaddas Ali Ahmed of North Kaljhar and Shafiqul Islam of Jania. Meanwhile, Police have seized three handmade bombs, three electronic detonators, four explosive neogeneses, nineteen fours and five mobile phones from the garden in front of Mokaddas Ali’s house.
Notably, before the arrest of Shafiqul Islam, Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh was closely associated with JMB. It may be mentioned that Barpeta police arrested Shafiqul Islam in 2019 on charges of embezzlement by the JMB.
