Itanagar:
In a bid to improve connectivity in the state, the Centre, which has already approved 980 4G mobile towers in Arunachal Pradesh, is mulling to install 2,000 additional ones in the state.
This was informed by Union Information Technology and Communication Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw after a meeting with the state Information Technology and Communication (IT&C) minister Wangki Lowang and Arunachal East Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao, IT&C chairman Doni Nich convened to discuss several issues relating to IT&C sector in the state.
Reiterating to approve the expansion of an additional statewide area network (SWAN), he directed the officers of the ministry to expedite the approval process.
The project for installing 980 4G mobile towers, is being implemented by Bharti Hexacom Ltd.
The Union IT minister also added that the Centre is planning to provide maximum telecommunication connectivity to Arunachal considering the state’s startegic geographical importance.
