AGARTALA:
Tripura police seized 290 kg of marijuana from Teliamura area of Khowai district, and arrested two persons in connection with the seizure.
The arrested persons have been identified as Sanjay Sharma and his accomplice Ramkrishna Chakraborty; both are residents of Bishlagarh sub-division.
Informing about the incident, Teliamura Sub-divisional Police officer (SDPO), Sonacharan Jamatia, said that the seizure and the arrests were made during checking along the National Highway 8.
“Police personnel led by Sub-inspector Pritam Datta were frisking vehicles on the National Highway, when a truck was intercepted and upon checking, 290 kg of dry ganja were seized from the cabin of the truck.”
The police, meanwhile, informed that the duo, during preliminary interrogation, revealed that the contraband was packed in Agartala and was meant to be smuggled to Bihar.
Further investigation on the matter is on.
