With the number of Covid cases going down in the state and the pandemic somewhat subsiding in the country, air traffic movements and passengers’ footfall is peaking yet again in Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport, Guwahati.
Keeping up with the soaring demands, the management of the LGBI, Adani Guwahati International Airport Ltd (AGIAL) has decided to have 90 flights for the upcoming summer season.
Informing that, currently, 63 flights are operating daily from the airport and very soon Guwahati will see more air connectivity, a AGIAL spokesperson, said, “Very shortly, more destinations, such as like Varanasi and Durgapur, will be added to the list of Guwahati’s connectivity. Slots for operations have been approved as well.”
Notably, during the last two months, the number of passengers has gone up from 1,09,037 to 1,18,181 in the airport.
“There is a 10 per cent increase in flights in the summer schedule of 2021 and 2022. Several routes will find additional flights too. Mumbai, Delhi, Imphal and Patna will have respectively one, two and one each additional flight in the summer schedule,” the spokesperson said.
Giving details about the top airlines which will provide highest weekly operations, the spokesperson said, “Top three airlines with the highest weekly operations during the summer schedule are Indigo with 187 flights weekly, Air Asia with 69 flights, and Spice Jet with 63 flights a week. The total weekly aircraft movements for the summer schedule 2021 was 750 flights which have increased to 885 in this year, 2022.”
