MEGHALAYA:
The A·chik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) in a press statement said that it will not compromise on the need to fill the backlog of the Garo quota which was denied for more than 50 years of statehood.
Secretary of ACHIK, Reche ChambugongWa·ge said that for more than 50 years Garos were not given the due right of job reservation policy and the people of the region have suffered endlessly.
The verdict of the roster system in job reservation policy has brought to light the injustice being met to the A·chik people for 50 years and it is a due right of the Garos to make a stand for it, the statement added.
It further stated that the demand for the fulfillment of the winter capital/ second capital at Tura is another priority that the organisation will not compromise.
The organisation also expressed gratitude to many organisation for their support of the winter capital in Tura and are hopeful that the Khasi brethren will join the bandwagon of supporting ACHIK in the demand which is legitimate and justified.
