DADENGGRE:
Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister, James K Sangma, on May 10, said that the facilities for schools in the state will be undergoing a “dramatic transformation” with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) pumping in 100 million dollars for revamping of the education infrastructure.
The Dadenggre legislator made the statement while inaugurating the newly constructed ADB-funded Dilsigre Secondary School, under Dadenggre Civil Sub-Division, on May 10.
Addressing the gathering, Sangma said that rural schools, such as the one in Dadenggre region, are very fortunate to get a state-of-the-art school building from ADB, and he urged all the stakeholders to shoulder the responsibility to achieve higher educational goals.
Earlier in October 2013, the ADB had announced that the Manila-based multilateral funding agency will provide a loan of $100 million to improve secondary education and vocational training in the state. It’s the agency’s first loan in India to boost education and skills as a part of a project to support human capital development.
Stating that the school will be a foundation to mould the future of the students of the region, the cabinet minister said, “The focus and priority of the government is to impart quality education. I urge the students of the school to utilise the facilities provided to them.”
Present at the inauguration were SDO (Civil), Vibhor Aggarwal, District School Education Officer (DSEO), R Tenang K Sangma and other government officials.
