All educational institutions to open in Tripura from January 31

The decision applies to all educational institutes - government-aided, unaided private institutions and madrassas - in the state and Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council as well, education minister Ratan Lal Nath said

AGARTALA:

A day after pre-primary schools were allowed to re-open in Tripura, the government, on January 30, decided to re-open all educational institutes, including colleges, and universities, from January 31.

Speaking to The Meghalayan, education minister Ratan Lal Nath said, “In this case, it is important to keep the campuses running in compliance with the appropriate restrictions of Covid. The decision would also apply to all educational institutes – government-aided, unaided private institutions and madrassas – in the state and Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council as well,” he said.

The minister further said that the decision was taken after inspecting the overall Covid situation in consultation the Health Department.

“Since the last two years the institutions were mostly closed and students suffered from a serious impediment in mental growth and education.,” the minister said.

According to the health department report, 186 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the state with three fatalities, on Sunday. However, fresh positivity figures have now come down to 3.76 per cent in the state, the department informed.
