Allot land for U Kiang Nangbah statue: Traditional heads, social groups to Lamare

A joint memorandum to Lamare was submitted by the Kiang Nangbah Iasiat Khnam Memorial Society (KNIKMS), Jaintia Students' Union (JSU), Synjuk Ki Waheh Chnong Jowai (SWCJ) and Dorbar Chnong Mihmyntdu.

Traditional heads along with several social organisations have requested the minister in charge of Transport Dasakhiat Lamare’s intervention for allotting land at Lad Nartiang for erecting a life-size statue of U Kiang Nangbah, a legendary freedom fighter of the Jaintias.

A joint memorandum to Lamare was submitted by the Kiang Nangbah Iasiat Khnam Memorial Society (KNIKMS), Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU), Synjuk Ki Waheh Chnong Jowai (SWCJ) and Dorbar Chnong Mihmyntdu.

“We request you to please approve a sub-sequential amount of land of about 5000 sq ft belonging to the transport department at Lad Nartiang, Mihmyntdu to the Department of Arts and Culture for the construction of the said statue for the benefit and welfare of the people of Jaintia Hills and to beautify the area,” the memorandum said.
