Ampareen inspects Sohra’s 50-bed hospital

Despite delays due to Covid-19, the hospital is likely to be completed by the end of October. The hospital will be a big boost to health sector in the state and will be a great boon for Sohra as a whole.

Shillong:

Minister of Health and Family Welfare Ampareen Lyngdoh, on September 11, inspected the under-construction 50-bed AYUSH hospital at Sohra. The project is funded under the National AYUSH Mission (NAM) by the Ministry of AYUSH at a cost of Rs 10.55 crore.

The project was initiated in 2016-17 and civil works will be completed after the monsoon.

Despite delays due to Covid-19, the hospital is likely to be completed by the end of October. The hospital will be a big boost to health sector in the state and will be a great boon for Sohra as a whole.

The hospital is expected to provide OPD, IPD, antenatal care and other medical facilities after its completion.The hospital has space for starting operation theatre, optometry, labour room, panchakarma, etc.

The Centre also has made accommodations for AYUSH physicians and class IV employees. The minister reviewed the operationalisation timeline for the centre with Health and Family Welfare department officers.

Moreover, recruitment for the AYUSH physicians will be taken up by the District AYUSH Society by the end of this month. The process for procurement of equipment is also under way.
