Ampareen not keen for post in govt, says CM

SHILLONG:

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday said Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Ampareen Lyngdoh was not keen for any post in the MDA government.

“Ampareen had mentioned specifically that even if she was not accommodated, she was okay with it. She said she would like to work in a productive manner and support the government in whatever way possible,” Sangma told reporters.

He said that the CLP leader was very clear that it was not a priority to her.
“Based on that we will see and we will discuss how to move forward,” Sangma said.

On February 18, four of the five suspended Congress MLAs were appointed as co-chairmen in the government.

Mawlai legislator PT Sawkmie and West Shillong legislator Mohendro Rapsang have been appointed as co-chairmen of the Meghalaya New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (MNREDA) while Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem was appointed as co-chairman of Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and Rambrai-Jyrngam MLA Kimfa Marbaniang as co-chairman of Meghalaya Government Construction Company (MGCC).

The appointment of four MLAs is in the A+ category which includes perks and facilities.

The five MLAs have been suspended by the Congress, which termed the support to a BJP-backed government as an “anti-party” act.
