Arunachalee author story sails into ‘Best Asian’ anthology

ITANAGAR:

A short story of a writer from the state has been included in a book published from Singapore, bringing cheers among the literature lovers in the northeastern state.

The story ‘Local’, by Gankhu Sumnyan, an Assistant Professor of English at Wangcha Rajkumar Government College at Deomali, has been included in the “The Best Asian Short Stories-2021″ book, published from Singapore.

The fifth edition of the book series for the year 2021 has been released by the publication house Kitaab Singapore recently and is available on Amazon.

35-year-old Sumnyan is also the president of the Tirap district unit of Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) and is associated with creative writings from his school days. His poetry collection book Old Friends’ Parade was shortlisted for Satish Verma Young Writers’ Award 2015, organised by Muse India.

His poems have been published in the journals – Indian Literature and The Little Journal of Northeast India. He has also published short stories in various magazines.
