GUWAHATI:
Assam has received the best prize for generating the highest number of Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs (northeast/hilly states) and the second prize for conducting the highest number of tele-consultations at Ayushman Bharat – Health and Wellness Centre (AB-HWCs) from October 12 to December 8.
The award was received by the mission director of National Health Mission (NHM), Assam, Dr MS Lakshmi Priya from Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, at the two-day health ministers’ conclave Rudraksh Convention Centre, Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh on December 10.
The conclave was organised by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to commemorate Universal Health Coverage Day.
The event was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel in the presence of Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and health ministers and senior officials of health department of various states.
Universal Health Coverage aims for “all people (to) have access to needed promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health services of sufficient quality to be effective while also ensuring that people do not suffer financial hardship when paying for these services”, the statement said.
The United Nations officially designated December 12 as ‘International Universal Health Coverage Day’ in 2017. The theme for this year is ‘Build the World We Want: A Healthy Future for All’, which underscores the role and importance of health coverage in building a healthy future for all.
Additionally, one of the priorities of the G20 health track includes a focus on Universal Health Coverage and improved healthcare service delivery.
