GUWAHATI:
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Rongali Bihu celebrations in Guwahati.
Briefing media persons at the lawns of Assam House here on Saturday after meeting Prime Minister at his official residence, Sarma said he extended the invitation to Prime Minister Modi to join in the Rongali Bihu celebrations with the people in Guwahati on April 14-15.
The Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister accepted the invitation though the date has not been finalised.
Sarma apprised Modi about the Central Government projects in Assam where the process is on for the acquisition of land and the development initiatives taken by his government.
In the same vein, Prime Minister Modi also suggested ways for the holistic development of the state.
The Chief Minister apprised the Prime Minister about the preparations made by the Government of Assam for holding five numbers of G20 Summit meetings in the state.
Sarma also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Prime Minister on the demise of his beloved mother on behalf of the people of Assam.
