SHILLONG:
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on September 13, informed that the Regional Committees of both states have made a lot of progress in solving the border issue.
Briefing media persons after inaugurating Karbi Guest House in Shillong, Sarma said, “Recently we finally agreed on the survey post of Hahim. We have agreed on the border post at Hahim, and there is a lot of progress happening on both sides.”
Informing that today’s discussion was unofficial and informal, Sarma however, refrained from announcing on decisions taken.
He said that a formal meeting will follow soon, wherein decisions will be taken and communicated to media persons.
Sarma also requested people on both sides of the border to maintain peace and harmony as both the governments work on resolving the issue.
“We want to keep the best interests of people living at both sides of the border. We want to protect the interest of the people, so be calm, remain in peace, help us, and we will try to resolve the issue at the earliest,” Sarma said.
