SHILLONG:
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Tura MDC Bernard N Marak on January 22 alleged that FOCUS beneficiaries are receiving fake messages on their mobile phones mentioning that Rs 5,000 has been credited to their account, however, on updating the account the amount mysteriously disappears and is not reflected.
Similar issue is being faced by the old age pensioners, widow pensioners and specially abled beneficiaries, Marak said in a statement.
He said Modi government cleared all dues to the state but people are still deprived one way or the other.
Even some Self Help Group members who applied for FOCUS’s Rs 5,000 are divided as only one third of the group members are receiving but others are rejected on grounds which are not revealed to them.
“No one is there to clarify the reasons why some of these poor women are deprived as authorities are washing their hands of the matter. The criteria of selecting the beneficiaries are not mentioned anywhere by the authorities and FOCUS is very shady,” he said.
“Surprisingly, some beneficiaries received messages after Model Code of Conduct was declared which we would request to be verified and looked into,” Marak alleged.
