TURA:
State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice-president, Bernard N Marak has been sent to six days police custody by the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate after explosives were recovered from his farmhouse, Rimpu Bagan, in Tura, on August 11. A case was registered in connection of the recovery under the Explosives Substances Act.
This comes after his second arrest on the night of August 10 shortly after he was granted judicial custody in one case of immoral trafficking.
The Tura member of district council (MDC) was in police custody for the past 14 days — initially eight days after his arrest from Uttar Pradesh and subsequently extended by six more days — and his police custody was to come to an end on Wednesday.
