BJP eyeing to rope in 5-10 MLAs by Nov: Ernest Mawrie

SHILLONG:

The state unit of the BJP will ensure that five-ten sitting MLAs join the party by November.

“Reports of MLAs joining us will be welcomed and we shall ensure 5-10 sitting MLAs will join us by November,” the party’s state unit president Ernest Mawrie said in a statement on Wednesday.

He informed that the state election committee will be notified at the earliest.

He said the party will soon be restructured by bringing about organisational changes right from state office-bearers to district level and all inactive mandals will be reorganised.

According to him, the party will try to achieve booth level organisation in about 20-plus constituencies where the winning stakes are high by the end of September.

Mawrie further said that there are 5-6 aspiring candidates in some constituencies with whom the party was trying to strike a formula so that all candidates will work together for the party.

“Those whose survey report is good, will get the ticket,” he said while adding that “if needed we will soon restructure the organisational setup in all  mandals. The party will take a decision after getting a report from booth level sashaktikaran abhiyan committee.”

He said in some of the cases where an aspiring candidate or sitting MLA from another party is keen on joining BJP then the party’s karyakartas will join him.

Mawrie also said that the party will ensure that the procedure for full organisational restructuring will be completed by this month and the state election committee will scrutinise all the requirements as per the constitutional mandate of the party.

“We shall soon launch a programme for large-scale membership drive in all mandals. Our party will leave no stone unturned to ensure getting a doubledigit in this election,” he added.
