BSF jawan injured while preventing contraband smuggling in Tripura

AGARTALA:

A Border Security Force (BSF) constable was attacked by drug traffickers when he tried to prevent smuggling of contraband items to Bangladesh on the intervening night of February 4, in Belonia, South Tripura

The injured BSF jawan, Binod Soren, was rushed to the nearest primary health care in Rajnagar, where three stitches were administered on his forehead.

According to reports, troops of the Rangamura Border Outpost, belonging to the Ex-130 battalion, BSF, were operating in the area following specific intelligence regarding the movement of traffickers when the incident happened.

When Soren tried to stop the miscreants, they started pelting stones and the BSF personnel sustained head injuries, the BSF said.

The BSF team, however, successfully seized 25 kg of ganja, amounting to Rs 1,25,000 in the international market from the traffickers.

The seized ganja was handed over to the Belonia police, and a complaint has been lodged.
