Shillong:
The Federation of Riwar Mihngi Local Durbars (FORMLD) has urged the state government to resolve the constant bickering between the BSF personnel and the residents to ensure peace and harmony in the border areas.
In a statement issued here, the president of the organisation H R Khongsdir has expressed concern over the recent incident at Lad Umsyiem where local youth were beaten up allegedly by BSF personnel.
The organisation also recalled an incident where a truck driver was shot dead by BSF personnel at Mawshun.
Khongsdir said that maintaining peace and security is not only up to the BSF and if they need, they should have sought help from Dawki police.
The FORMLD claimed that the youth who were assaulted were residents of the village and were not involved in smuggling.
