SHILLONG:
The Border Security Force (BSF), in two separate incidents, rescued 73 cattle from the international border of East Jaintia hills, and seized 125 kgs of human hair meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh from the international border in East Khasi Hills district, on April 28.
The BSF have seized 225 kg of human hair since January 2022 and rescued 450 cattle since April 2022 from miscreants involved in cattle smuggling to Bangladesh.
According to sources, the human hair being smuggled into Bangladesh is used for making wigs for domestic use and international exports.
Owing to increase in smuggling activities along the border areas, the BSF troopers have intensified checking and have also enhanced security along the international border to thwart smuggling as well as to prevent all kinds of trans-border crimes and illegal activities.
