SHILLONG:
The state cabinet in its next meeting will discuss the names of the expert committee to review the reservation policy, sources informed on August 21.
The cabinet had on June 6 this year approved the search committee headed by Meghalaya chief secretary, Donald Phillips Wahlang, to select members for the expert committee to review the reservation policy.
Sources informed that the search committee has recommended certain names who will be the chairperson and members of the expert committee.
“Everything will be clear when the state cabinet sits for its next meeting,” a source informed.
The state government had mandated the search committee with recommending names for the five-member expert committee to review the Meghalaya State Reservation Policy of 1972.
The three-member search committee headed by the chief secretary includes two members – commissioner & secretary in-charge Personnel & AR department R Lyngdoh and secretary in-charge Law department CVD Diengdoh.
Last week, the Voice of the People Party (VPP) had questioned the delay on the part of the government to identify those who will constitute the expert panel.
