Nathaniel M Kharwanlang popularly known by his stage name Youngg Natee has made his presence felt with the recent release Call Me, a song with a nostalgic tune and a plot that combines love and hate, two extreme feelings that are unavoidable in any relationship.

Call Me is a song that shows the feeling of a person that craves love and affection towards his or her lover,” said Youngg Natee, who had originally written the song two years ago. “I would say I had the feeling of love when I wrote this song. I simply felt like writing about the unique love I had experienced in a way that the listeners could also identify with.”

The song could be played often in remembrance of someone or dedicated to a loved one. The song’s calming vibe has the potential to quickly become a favourite on playlists for all road trips and house parties across the nation and beyond.

Additionally, Call Me has a powerful video. The music video, which was directed by Sumeet Ngangom, is made up of melancholy images that capture the song’s feelings. The story begins with the protagonist stuck in the room after a botched cyber-heist, with no way out. The protagonist begins to realise he has nowhere to run as the number of lasers aimed at him keeps growing. “He thinks back on the times he spent with his lover while he is being led toward disaster. He looks at those recollections for solace,” the artiste describes. “However, the music video is open to one’s interpretation, after all, that is the beauty of art,” Youngg Natee said.

Ricaa Stella, a singer, who released her single Need You in June, provided backing vocals for the chorus of Call Me and also played the role of the love interest of Youngg Natee in the music video. “I had an amazing time working with Ricaa. She is professional with her work and was very patient with me and the whole team throughout the project,” the artiste told The Meghalayan.

Call Me would not have been a success had it not been for the entire team comprising Cold Melody (production), Mekham Khonglah (Mix & Master), MOKSH & Sumeet Ngangom (executive production), Arif [Blackcats Shillong] (VFX), Donboklang (production design), Lairikton (makeup and hair), Emerdjence (location) and MOX (label).

So far, we have only introduced the artiste by his stage name Youngg Natee, well, guess it is time to introduce our readers to the nineteen-year-old boy whose critically praised debut EP, “Youngg & Ambitiou$,” (rated 4/5 by Rolling Stone India) in 2021 made him an instant favourite for every club or festival event in Meghalaya.

“Nathaniel M. Kharwanlang is my name. I first thought of the name Nate as a nickname for Nathaniel, and I’ve desired to be a musician since I was just eight years old, therefore the Young,” the singer says. He loves to go above and beyond in all he does, which is why he added an extra G and E to his name. “The extra G in Young means Get and the extra E in Nate indicates Extra…Youngg Natee,” said Nathaniel with a smile.

At the age of 14, Nathaniel began DJing and making electronic dance music, but he soon realised that music production was not for him, so he moved to songwriting. The artiste adds that the beats and mood are the two main factors in his composing process. “My first EP was called Youngg & Ambitious. There are five songs in all, and my favourite is Cold as Ice, in which I discuss teenage-related themes,” claimed Nathaniel.

Nathaniel alias Youngg Natee, who is an undergraduate student at St. Anthony’s College, has big goals for his musical career. “I just want to graduate college and look for a job where I can earn and invest in my music from time to time and stay consistent with it”. The “Youngg” singer is aiming for the top and with Call Me, “Natee” is determined to take his career up a notch higher.
