TURA:
A cattle lifter from Assam, who was caught lifting two cows from a village in West Garo Hills was lynched by the villagers on July 3.
The incident occurred in Baklagre village of Selsella.
It was informed that the accused cattle lifter, identified as Aynal Hoque of Purandiara, South Salmara, Mankachar, Assam had entered the Garo village and was trying to make away with two cows when he was caught by the villagers.
He was severely beaten up and by the time police got news of the incident and rushed to the site the victim had succumbed to his injuries.
According to the police, the deceased thief was a habitual offender and was earlier accused in a dacoity case under Tura police station.
He was also a known cattle and vehicle lifter, police said. Meanwhile, police have registered a Suo Motu FIR in connection with the lynching.
