Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma inaugurated the Chief Minister’s Youth Centre (CMYC) at Chibra Agal under Rongram block in West Garo Hills, on August 12.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the government has accorded thrust to youth-centric programmes and policies and initiatives such as CMYC will further the government’s endeavour to create the right environment for positive growth and productivity of the state’s youth. The centre was inaugurated in presence of MLA Thomas A Sangma.
Stating that 80 such centres will be set up in the state, Conrad said that CMYCs will act as a space for the youth of Meghalaya to experience learning from the lens of choice, where they get to choose what they learn.
The CMYC aims to provide an open, safe and accessible platform for the youth of rural Meghalaya to design their learning journey by nurturing their ideas, showcasing their talents, and building their capacity to solve problems that they see around them.
The CMYCs are co-designed by Sauramandala Foundation and Project DEFY.
