Meghalaya top cop receives national award for excellence in investigation

DSP Pyrkhatlang Suchiang, is among 10 police officers from the Northeast to have been conferred the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation for the year 2022.

NEW DELHI:

Deputy superintendent of police, Crime Branch, East Khasi Hills, Pyrkhatlang Suchiang, has been bestowed upon with the Excellence in Investigation award 2022 by the Union Home Ministry.

Suchiang, is among 10 police officers from the Northeast to have been conferred the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation for the year 2022, announced the ministry, on August 12.

The other officers from the region to have received the award, include four personeel from Assam and one police officer each from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.

The Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation for the year 2022 have been awarded to 151 Police personnel. This medal was constituted in 2018, with the objective to promote high professional standards of investigation of crime and to recognise such excellence in the field.

Among the personnel receiving these awards this year include, 15 are from CBI, 11 are from Maharashtra Police, 10 each are from Madhya Pradesh police and Uttar Pradesh Police, eight each are from Kerala Police, Rajasthan Police and West Bengal Police and the remaining from the other states, union territories and other organisations. These award winners also include 28 women police officers.
