Centre grants Rs 100 crore to Tripura for exemplary implementation of JJM

In a review meeting, the department also discussed in detail about the setting up of Iron Removal Plants (IRP) in different parts of the state.

AGARTALA:

The Centre sanctioned Rs 100 crore to the Tripura Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) department as an incentive grant for the good work it has done in implementing the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and for better performance in 2021-22.

Making the announcement on April 25, DWS minister Sushanta Chowdhury, while chairing a review meeting of the scheme’s implementation and progress, said that the government has set a target for providing tap water to every household in the state under the scheme by December 2022.

“The Ministry of Jal Shakti has recently sanctioned Rs 100 crore as incentive grant to our DWS department for recognition of good work in implementing JJM for better performance in 2021-22. Our department has pledged to provide clean drinking to every household of the state through by 2022,” he said.

Chowdhury also said that officials and staff of the department have been working tirelessly to implement the scheme. “Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and our chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb, we have been working towards the goal of delivering tap water to every household in our state by 2022,” he said.

For this, every employee and officer of the concerned department has to work with transparency and sincerity in the mission mode, he said. The state government is providing all possible assistance to make this mission 100 per cent successful, he added.

In the meeting, the department also discussed in detail about the setting up of Iron Removal Plants (IRP) in different parts of the state to alleviate the problem of iron in the water.
