Informing this, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Culture said, “Here this museum will highlight tribal identities, unsung heroes, culture, tradition, art and culture will be focussed there.”

“This is the Centre’s initiative. We are only asking for a specific location for setting up a tribal museum in the state,” the minister said.

Addressing the valedictory function of the “Ka Tynrai Jong Ka Longrynieng” (The Roots of Identity) held at U Soso Tham Auditorium in Shillong, he recalled the contributions made by the freedom fighters of the state and also informed that the government’s focus is to educate the youths on the many unsung heroes of Azadi.

“Tirot Singh is a very big name. All of us should know about him.” The Union Minister also mentioned the contributions of U Kiang Nangbah and Pa Togan Sangma during his speech.

Meghwal also shared a lighter moment at the program when he engaged with the audience while singing his own composition of Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.

East Khasi Hills MLA, Ampareen Lyngdoh, who also attended the event alongside dignitaries, urged the government to recognize the indigenous languages of the State – Khasi, Garo and Jaintia. During her address at the programme, she expressed delight in the government’s initiative to educate the youth on unsung heroes.
