TURA:
The talks between chief minister Conrad K Sangma and ACHIK took an ugly turn as an unruly mob started pelting stones at the police, leading to injury of several police personnel in Tura on July 24.
Sangma was holding a meeting with ACHIK protestors in Tura, when the mob hijacked the meeting and manhandled people.
ACHIK leaders’ clarified that all those who gathered and were making commotion had never taken part in their two-week long hunger strike and had suddenly turned up today.
Meanwhile, police had to resort to tear gas shelling as the mob became uncontrollable.
ACHIK who had spearheaded the strike and held discussions were compelled to take refuge inside the venue of the meeting as the crowd became unruly.
