CM Conrad attends all-party meeting over Manipur situation

Briefing media persons, Sangma informed that all the political parties expressed concern over the situation in Manipur, and urged the centre to take all necessary steps to ensure peace and normalcy returns in Manipur.

SHILLONG:

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, on June 24, attended an all-party meeting called by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss the situation in violence-hit Manipur.

Briefing media persons, Sangma informed that all the political parties expressed concern over the situation in Manipur, and urged the centre to take all necessary steps to ensure peace and normalcy returns in Manipur.

“We urged the government of India to ensure supply of relief materials efficiently to all the areas, and more importantly to the relief camps so that people get the necessities,” Sangma said.

Sangma also informed that the political parties urged the state and the centre to work in coordination to reach out to all sections of the society in Manipur for ensuring peace.

“The centre should reach out to different organisations, religious groups, armed groups and others who are involved in violence, and take strict actions against those responsible for creating communal tensions,” he said.

Urging the centre to bring these things under control, Sangma asserted that the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Manipur will go a long way in building confidence among the people.
