SHILLONG:

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has asked the Voice of the People Party (VPP) to do their homework on the issue of alloting the ground floor of the Commercial Complex, Meghalaya House located at Russell Street, Kolkata to one Rocky Dhar.

“This particular property after being constructed has been lying unused… you are talking of loss of crores revenue for the state government,” Sangma said.

According to the Chief Minister this particular space is a beautiful asset which should have been tendered out a long time ago.

He said that the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance 1.0 government sometime in 2019 decided that since the space are not being put to use which is in the heart of Kolkata and therefore the overall revenue generation lost by the state was quite sad.

The Chief Minister said that the space was tendered openly and whoever gave the highest amount it was decided to be given.

“The highest bidder has got it and if it happens to be individual A or individual B is not something I can comment on but the point is that the procedure and the process has been followed and the person who bid the highest amount has been given,” Sangma told reporters on the sidelines of a programme in the city.

It may be mentioned that the VPP had written a letter to Sangma demanding his intervention to cancel the contract signed by the GAD (A) Department, Government of Meghalaya to allot the ground floor of the Commercial Complex, Meghalaya House located at Russell Street, Kolkata to Rocky Dhar for his business purpose.
