As part of the World Environment Day celebrations, chief minister Conrad K Sangma along with government officials and students took part in planting saplings at Shillong International Centre for Performing Arts & Culture (SICPAC), Shillong on June 6.
Meghalaya is planting over 5 lakh saplings through the Mission Life initiative.
The chief minister took to the microblogging site and wrote, “Today we also threw some seed balls around SICPAC together with students. A fun exercise as we teach our children to plant seeds for a more environment-conscious and Green Meghalaya.”
It may be mentioned that a total of 3.6 million seed balls will be distributed across the state to encourage students, communities to take part in the drive to create green spaces across Meghalaya.
