Deputy chief minister in-charge Power, Prestone Tynsong, on March 16, said that the Independent Inquiry Committee (IIC) has been notified to inquire into the functioning of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL), pertaining to procurement, aggregate commercial and technical (AT&C) losses and human resources management (HRM), under the Saubhagya scheme.
Responding to a query raised by the leader of the opposition, Mukul Sangma on the alleged irregularities in implementing projects under the scheme, Tnysong said that the IIC has commenced its proceedings and to date, has made 18 sittings.
The three-member committee has Justice RN Mishra, retired High Court judge as the chairperson of the committee, (retd) IAS officer Manoj Kumar as the administrative member and (retd) REC executive director, Sunil Kumar as its technical member.
“At present, the committee is preparing the report for submission before the deadline, March 31, 2022,” Tynsong said
Further, it has issued a public notice inviting interested persons, including meeting officials of MeECL, to depose before it and has sought all the required departments from the same.
