Congress workers burn effigy of CM Manik Saha in Tripura

AGARTALA:

Protesting against the attack on their leaders on August 11, the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) organised a protest rally, and burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Manik Saha on August 12.

“Tripura is showing the whole country as to how Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav should be observed. The goons backed by BJP have been attacking the opposition parties in the name of Azadi,” said in-charge of TPCC, Szarita Laitphlang.

Accusing the CM of carrying out such attacks, Laitphlang alleged that the CM has fulfilled his commitment of providing employment as a section of youths have been engaged in manufacturing brickbats to be used for pelting at opposition rallies.

On the other hand, TPCC president Birajit Sinha, compared Tripura to ‘China’ and ‘North Korea’ and claimed that the state has been isolated from the entire county under the BJP’s regime.

“To celebrate the 75th Independence Day, Sonia Gandhi has announced Bharat Jodo Abhiyan across the country and in our state too. But Tripura government is preventing us from holding the Abhiyan. We have sought permission too but they are not allowing us. They are throttling the democratic right,” he said.
