National People’s Party (NPP) national president Conrad K Sangma, on March 6, highlighted the achievements of the NPP-led MDA government and said that the same steps would be taken to ensure growth across all sectors, including job creation, tourism development, and agriculture which will be given top priority by the government in the next five years.
“Whether it is the IT sector, we have managed to open a 3000-seater call centre in the last five years and BPO IT park. I intend that within the next five years we should open more than 20,000 seats, we already have sanctioned more than 5000 seats, and it is my target and goal that at the end of this term we should have at least 20-25 thousand seats of BPO sector in our state,” Sangma said while highlighting the goals and objectives of the new government in the next five years.
Stating that tourism is one area that the government can work on to create multiple avenues for livelihood, he said that during the next five areas this sector will be developed for greater revenue.
In addition to that, Sangma said that value addition in agriculture, strengthening of the health and education sectors will continue with greater investment during the next five years.
Sangma went on to say that infrastructure, which includes the PHE department, power sector roadways will also be crucial areas for the government to look into.
“We have done a lot in the last five years in terms of road connectivity and water connectivity, I hope we are able to saturate things in the next five years where we are able to ensure that every household gets water tap connection and ensure every village is connected with road and every house has power connection,” Sangma said.
