CPIM holds massive protest rally in Agartala against price rise

Pabitra Kar said that the state and Centre have failed to address the issues of the common people and in the last 12 days, the government has increased the price of fuel eleven times

AGARTALA:

Members of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) took out a massive protest rally against the rise in prices of essential commodities in the state and across the country, in Agartala, on April 4.

CPI-M state committee member, Pabitra Kar said that the state and Centre have failed to address the issues of the common people, as prices of essential items have gone up exorbitantly over time.

“Today we organised a rally in Agartala, and in the coming days we shall hold such protest rallies in other parts of the state as well. Everything they (Bharatiya Janata Party) promised, nothing materialised. In the last 12 days, the government has increased the price of fuel eleven times,” said Kar.

The central committee of CPI-M had decided to hold a protest rally across the country against the policies of the government, which they term ‘anti-human’, on April 2.

Referring to poll promises made by the BJP during the Uttar Pradesh elections, Kar said that the saffron party made a lot of promises during the campaign, however, all of them were forgotten as soon as the election concluded and they emerged victoriously.

Similarly, the price of cooking gas cylinders also shot up to an all-time high, he said.

“Most notably, the price of pipeline gas has risen abnormally in Tripura. All the policies of the government are against the people. Despite providing jobs, the government is snatching all the democratic rights. This government is doing nothing for the people. We are protesting against the government’s apathy towards all these issues,” the senior leader added.
