Dacoits loot cash over Rs 2 lakh, ornaments from woman in Garo Hills

The dacoity happened in the house of one Karnitha M Marak who runs a business enterprise.

TURA:

A group of dacoits entered the house of a local businesswoman and looted over Rs 2 lakh and gold ornaments besides assaulting inmates at Dadenggre, West Garo Hills, on June 6.

The dacoity happened in the house of one Karnitha M Marak who runs a business enterprise. “It seems the criminals had knowledge about her savings as she had recently received payment for sale of various goods,” informed locals from Dadenggre.

The unidentified men, numbering close to half a dozen with faces covered in masks, forced their way inside her home in Dadenggre on Monday night and after tying up the family members, broke open their cupboard and took away the cash and ornaments along with their mobile phones. The criminals were reportedly armed with daggers and country-made guns.

The family later alerted Dadenggre police and filed an FIR. Police sources indicate that there is strong suspicion of the involvement of a criminal gang operating in the Chibinang area of the plains belt and investigations are underway to identify the perpetrators.
