‘Defeat of BJP and its fascist ideas need of the hour to save Indian democracy’

TURA:

Congress supporters across Garo Hills converged in Tura on September 10 morning for a protest showdown against the Modi government’s decisions which the grand old party deemed as nothing short of destroying the democratic fabric of the country.

Led by the Indian Youth Congress general secretary Sofiqul Wazid, youth congress workers from the five districts of Garo Hills assembled outside the Congress bhawan  and raised axseries of slogans condemning the present government of Prime minister Narendra Modi and accusing his NDA government of fascism, corruption and destroying democratic norms of the country.

Senior leader of the youth congress in the country, Sofiqul Wazid told supporters that the manner in which the current NDA government under Modi was running the country was leading it into a fascist state where peoples’ voices would no longer be allowed to be raised and only the people in power would decide the future of the country.

“Democratic values are under threat in this NDA government,” said the youth congress leader as he urged the supporters of congress and the general public to stand for what is right without fear.

The ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ programme of the party was scheduled to include a rally across the main thoroughfares of Tura bazar, but was ultimately scaled down to a public protest outside the congress bhawan.
