Dilapidated road condition hits Indo-Bangladesh trade in Tripura

India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce (IBCC) president Ratan Saha said that they would soon raise the issue with the Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Agartala.

AGARTALA:

The trade between Tripura and Bangladesh has been severely hit due to the dilapidated condition of the road through Srimanatapur Integrated Check Post under the Sepahijala district of the state.

“We have taken up the matter to restore the road, which connects Tripura to Bangladesh through Srimanatapur intregated check post (ICP). Since the road is within 150 yards of the international border, prior permission from Bangladesh is needed before it can be repaired,” an official said.

The official added that they want the process of immigration through the ICP to remain smooth and tourist-friendly.

India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce (IBCC) president Ratan Saha said that they would soon raise the issue with the Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Agartala as it will be more difficult to use the road during and after the monsoon.

Businessmen, who are either exporting or importing goods, have also raised the issue with concerned authorities.
