The ministers in the new Cabinet of Tripura were, three days after they were sworn in, allocated portfolios late on May 18 evening by Chief Minister Manik Saha.
Except for the two new ministers, Rampada Jamatia and Prem Kumar Reang, the rest of the ministers held more or less the same portfolios.
As per a notification issued by the state government on Wednesday, the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha will hold the Home (excluding jail and fire and Emergency Services), PWD, Industry and Commerce, General Administration, Election and all other portfolios that were not allocated to any other minister.
Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Deb Varma was assigned Power, RD including Panchayat, Finance, Planning and Coordination, Statistics departments, and Science, Technology and Environment.
The other ministers who were assigned portfolios were Narendra Chandra Debbarma, who got Revenue and Forest departments, Ratan Lal Nath, who was assigned Higher and Secondary School Education, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Pranajit Singha Roy, who was assigned Agriculture, Transport and Tourism departments, and Manoj Kanti Deb, who got Food, Civil Supplies and Urban development.
Apart from them, Santana Chakma was assigned Social Welfare and Social Education, Industry and Commerce (excluding Handloom, Handicraft and Sericulture, IT), Ramprasad Paul was assigned Jail, Fire and Emergency service, Welfare for Backward and Minorities Community, Bhagaban Chandra Das was assigned Welfare of SC and ARDD, and Sushanta Chowdhury was assigned ICA, Youth Affairs, Sports and PWD (DWS).
Newly inducted minister Rampada Jamatia was allocated Tribal Welfare and Industry and Commerce (Handloom, Handicraft and Sericulture), while Prem Kumar Jamatia received Fishery and Cooperation.
