In an act of kindness and humanity, the dorbar shnong of Umkadhor in Ri Bhoi District built a house for an elderly woman, who has been surviving alone.
The elderly woman, Noris Rani, lives alone with no children or relatives to depend on. The dorbar shnong took the matter into its hand and decided to build the poor woman a house and give it to her as a Christmas gift.
The dorbar shnong handed the keys of the house to Rani on December 14 and a prayer meet was held by Fr. Micheal Sun, Parish Priest of Umkadhor Pariat in the presence of Sordar of Umkadhor, Andreas Tron, FKJGP leader Centre Doloi, KSU leader Receive Pator among other elders of the village.
Fr. Michael Sun lauded the initiative of the dorbar shnong for providing a roof above an elderly woman’s head. “She has suffered a lot in the past and has gone through immense hardship, but it ends today,” Fr. Sun said.
Rani expressed her gratitude to the elders of the local dorbar shnong for giving her a house, adding, “Now I am happy to have only one meal a day as I have a better shelter.”
