NONGPOH:
Amidst the vibrant celebration of Durga Puja, the Nongpoh Ram Mandir has unveiled a breathtaking spectacle that marries tradition and scientific marvel. The Nongpoh Ram Mandir is now adorned with a replica of Chandrayan-3, offering a glimpse of the cosmos to ignite the scientific curiosity of students from Ri Bhoi District. This display not only pays homage to cultural heritage but also stands as a guiding star, encouraging young minds to embark on a journey of scientific exploration.
With a history stretching back to its establishment in 1927, the Nongpoh Ram Mandir has been at the heart of Durga Puja festivities since 1944. This year’s celebration takes a cosmic turn with enchanting decorations and exhibits that seamlessly blend divinity with the wonders of science.
Unteshwar Singh, President of the Nongpoh Ram Mandir Durga Puja Committee, shared the inspiration behind the Chandrayan-3 replica. Singh said that the committee’s goal is to inspire students in Ri Bhoi District to embrace science in their educational journey. He expressed concerns about the prevailing educational trend in the district, where many students tend to favour arts and commerce, often overlooking the vast realm of scientific knowledge.
